Renegade monk is a unique cheese. Made in Templecombe, Somerset from organic, pasteurised cow's milk and washed in ale as it matures, Renegade Monk combines the pungency of washed French cheeses such as Epoisses and Munster, with British production values, such as using local organic milk, organic ale for washing and a determination for Feltham's farm to be self sufficient and sustainable. All this with a twist of blue thrown in makes this a cheese that has to be tried.
Not surprisingly, Renegade Monk has won a variety of awards since production began four years ago, including a gold for "Best Soft Cheese (small producer)" at the 2019 World Cheese Awards. In fact, the cheese has been a regular award winner at The World Cheese Awards since 2017.
On top of all this, Renegade Monk is a fantastic name for a cheese too!
