Perl Wen
Perl Wen is an organic soft cheese from Glyneithinog Farm, Wales by Caws Cenarth. It's billed as a cross between a Caerphilly and a Brie but probably edges more into brie territory in appearance and flavour.
The cheese is a light yellow colour with a bloomy white rind and the soft paste has a nice lemony twang on the tongue, which it gets from the Caerphilly. This is one of a range of wonderful Welsh cheeses from Caws Cenarth who are really putting Welsh cheese on the map with most of best Caerphilly now being produced in Somerset.
This is good with a nice fruity red wine or a Studio Pilsner.
This cheese is suitable for vegetarians.
