Canned Wine Collection

Experience a new range of wines with this delicious selection from the Canned Wine Company. Wine in a can may seem a little unusual but the wines chosen here are perfect in a can. As well as tasting great, they're ideal for those times where you fancy a glass of wine but don't particularly want to open a bottle and is a great way to try new wines where you may not necessarily want to splash out on a whole bottle. There are other wins too; canned wines are better for the environment too as wine in can typically emits four times less carbon dioxide than the equivalent volume of wine in a bottle. Recycling aluminium is also much better than recycling glass.

Below are the wines in this selection, they are all limited run, single vintage, single variety wines.

Grüner, wine of Austria - This is a vibrant and zesty white made with organic Grüner Veitliner grapes. It's a dry white wine, packed with peaches and green apples with a white pepper and citrus finish. It doesn't come much fresher than this.

Viognier - From Languedoc, France and created by Laurent Miquel, this Viognier is all white peach, grapefruit, melons and apple. There's a subtle hint of clove and vanilla which comes from the Burgundian oak in which this wine is matured. We typically like a Viognier with goat's cheese, and for this we'd recommend Driftwood, a lovely English goats cheese log.

Grenache Rosé - This is a realy fresh and vibrant rosé from Pays d'Oc, created by Thierry Boudinaud. This rosé is harvested at night and cool fermented which helps to define this wine's character. There are aromas of clementine, red apple and butterscotch, leading into pink grapefruit on the palate, giving acidity, pepper and orange flavours interlaced with the base of wild strawberries.

St Laurent - To be honest, we hadn't tried many Austrian reds before we had this one and now we can't get enough. The St Laurent grape is similar to Pinot Noir, but with darker fruit, which gives this wine its aromas of plum, mulberries and cherries and delicious palate of cherries and plums with overtones of peppercorn and cloves. This wine has a luscious long finish. This wine is best served lightly chilled.

Old Vine Garnacha - A smooth and silky red made with 100% Garnacha grapes. Produced by El Escoses Volante (The Flying Scotsman - brilliant), this wine highlights the very best of Spanish Garnacha. The grapes are grown at altitude, the juice is then aged for two years and eventually leads to a special wine. Deep and attractive, the initial aromas are of chocolate coated cherries, cassis and vanilla. On the palate it's predominately black cherry and strawberry with smooth tannins and a hint of dark cocoa at the end. Truly wonderful.
