A chat with Jonny Crickmore, maker of Baron Bigod

  • 12 September 2017

Q. What five cheeses would you take with you to a desert island and why? (they can’t all be your own ;)

A. I love all cheese but if I had to pick 5 .... St. Jude, St. James, Stichelton, Rollright & Hafod.

Q. Name four celebrities you’d share a cheeseboard with and why.

A. Jamie Oliver, James Martin, Sat Baines & Delia Smith.  I have loads of respect for these guys and the great things they have done for the UK food industry.

Q. What is your favourite cheese joke?

A. I'm not very good with gouda cheese jokes (boom, boom) but this one springs to mind .... There was an explosion at a cheese factory in France… all that was left was de brie.

Q. Eat the rind or not?

A. Yes definitely, whyever not?

Q. What's the most unusual place you’ve ever eaten cheese?

A. Up a mountain in South Island New Zealand.

Q. When you eat out do you have the cheeseboard or pudding/dessert?

A. Pudding ... it's nice to get away from work!

Q. What would you pair with your wonderful Baron Bigod?

A. Aspalls Dry Cider, great combination!

So there you have it, an insight into the mind of the maker of Baron Bigod, a beautiful raw milk Brie with the added bonus of a great pairing thrown in. You can buy Baron Bigod in our online cheese shop.
